Father's Day was created in the early 20th Century as a day to honor our fathers, forefathers, and father figures such as stepfathers,
uncles, and grandfathers. It is a complement to Mother's Day, and is celebrated around the world, with a variety of names and dates.
Mrs. Sonora Smart Dodd of Washington is credited with the idea of Father's Day in 1909. President Calvin Coolidge supported the idea
in 1924, but it wasn't until 1966, when President Lyndon Johnson signed a presidential proclamation that Father's Day became an "official"
