    Mike Shipley has been carving characters since 1976.  He is a self taught carver and is well known for his distinctive clean cut style of carving.  Mike has written and published several instructional wood carving books.  Mike's carvings are each done entirely by hand, carved free form from a model that exists only in his mind.  After carving the characters he paints them with the faded colors that enhance the image his tools have begun.  Each piece is then finished with his own homemade stain.  Why not let Mike's characters become a part of your family, they come from the heart of the Ozarks where they are still done one at a time and everyone is an original.
